Comment: I was thrilled to discover only this past week that I am a 6th great granddaughter of Jane Bicknell and James Drummond through their son Samuel Drummond.
Samuel Drummond was a painter of portraits and history who taught at the Royal Academy; his art hangs in London museums and there are not a few noteworthy artists who are said to have studied under him.
Samuel and Rose Hudson Drummond had a son also named Samuel who migrated to Mexico sometime between 1825-1835.
It is from this line that I descend. I will be ever grateful to William Bicknell for his memoir, as it furnishes the proof I needed of Samuel Drummond's identity.

Comment: I Have noticed a considerable number of Bicknell messages from Canada and it has raised a thought. My son has a very rare ( less than 1000 or so world wide ) medical condition known as Triple A Syndrome ( one of the A's is Addisons Disease ). A few years back a senior research doctor visited us and took blood samples from all the family and said the only other areas where Triple A was known of any number was Canada and she was visiting the Country for similar samples. Any news or views from Canada Bicknell greatly appreciated.

I'm not a member of the Bicknell Family, but I live in the home that was built for James W. Bicknell. The residence was known to the locals years ago, as the "Doc Bicknell Place". The house remains in fair condition, and is still a work in progress, all these years later. I have the original blueprints for the house, drawn by Frank P. Allen, who is quite famous in the architecture business, and his son Frank Jr., went on to be more famous than he. I was trying to make a connection between the Architect and the Doctor, and a nice lady from Fenton, Michigan, also where Frank P. Allen is from, helped me with the introduction of this fascinating site.

Latterly the name was Peverley but the earliest record is a Samuel & Sarah Pavely, parents of Jemima (Jane) Power nee Peverley c. St. Mary Whitechapel, London 24th May 1771.

This is my Great-Great Grandpa. Edith & Walter sailed from Torquay, UK in May 1890 on the SS Majestic.
Walter was a Potter, sculpturer, stone cutter & a Sgt. in the Royal Artillary during 1879 - 1889.
And then worked for the railroad in Laramie & Denver.

I would like to hear from Bicknells in England who may have descended from Thomas Bicknell & Maria Pellett.
They were married in Chichester in 1831 and had 7 children. The family seems to have remained in the Sussex area.

I shall add what i know. My mums names is Sandra Bicknell (Maiden name Catherine) I am the youngest son in the family. Altho i have different dad, he is from Kenya (Peter Mwangi) Brother is Paul Kennedy Bicknell, and Sister is Samantha Jane Bicknell.

FYI, A few years ago I had a copy made up of the Bicknell Geneology that was published in 1912 or 1913 from the Higginson Bookstore located in Salem, Mass. It took about 6 weeks to get it and cost around $120.00 I believe. Believe me, it is well worth the investment!
